AngloThai, the debut restaurant from husband and wife team, John and Desiree Chantarasak, will open this autumn in partnership with MJMK Restaurants. Following on from a number of highly acclaimed pop ups and residencies, the pair will be bringing their unique take on Thai-British cuisine with a European focused wine list, to their first bricks and mortar site.

AngloThai

We are delighted to be opening the long-awaited and critically acclaimed AngloThai, in partnership with John and Desiree Chantarasak, in central London. John draws influences from both sides of his Thai and British heritage to create dishes inspired by the eclectic cuisine of Thailand, while utilising the abundance of world class ingredients found within the British Isles. An alumnus from celebrated Thai restaurants Som Saa (London) and Nahm (Bangkok), John has spent the last decade honing his craft to bring this unique and exciting concept to the London dining scene. Desiree looks to her relationships with sustainably focused, small batch wine producers in Europe to complement the food at AngloThai, with many wines celebrating the craftsmanship and passion of a new generation of exciting wine growers. Well crafted, ethically minded and deeply delicious wines are the focus at AngloThai. We’re looking for an experienced and passionate Head Sommelier to lead and inspire our team, run a seamless service and create magical moments for our guests. We want our service to be approachable, fun and consistent whilst always ensuring high standards are met. A love for hospitality and strong attention to detail is a must with a desire to grow and develop within MJMK Restaurants. Your responsibilities as Head Sommelier will include: · Maintaining and developing the wine programme for AngloThai· Working in service for lunch, dinner and private events.· Inspiring, training and empowering the FOH team to pair and recommend wine confidently.· Developing relationships with wine suppliers to ensure the best selection and pricing. Training the team on wine service standards· Managing wine inventory, ensuring accurate stock counts and overseeing ordering processes· Collaborating with the General Manager on pricing strategies. Maximising sales opportunities through exceptional guest service. Conducting regular tastings and briefings on the wine list. Leading by example and inspiring a passion for wine across the dining room team· Being a focus for AngloThai’s wine social media/promotional activities You will deliver inspiring leadership; expert training; team empowerment and development of knowledge. You will be a great floor personality; energetic and engaging to our team, confident with experienced wine consumers and HNW individuals. Key requirements for this role are a passion for best-in-class hospitality, generosity of spirit, a positive outlook, and love of all things restaurants and people. You will need to demonstrate strong organisational skills, attention to detail and an understanding of what it takes to run some of the best restaurants in London. As a Head Sommelier at AngloThai, we’ll offer you: · £40,000 - £45,000, subject to experience· 50% discount across all MJMK restaurants· 28 days holidays, including Bank Holidays· Opportunity to develop your career with MJMK Restaurants.· Mental health and well-being assistance with Hospitality Action who can offer free advice and counselling if you’re struggling at work or at home.· Enhanced maternity and paternity pay after your first year with us.· An enhanced pension plan and the opportunity to take a sabbatical for a month, with two weeks paid by MJMK, after you’ve worked with us for 5 years.
