We are looking for an ambitious Accounts Payable Manager!



MJMK Restaurants own and operate a collection of award-winning restaurants:

  • Casa do Frango (3 sites) - Portuguese grill concept with restaurants in London Bridge, Heddon Street and Victoria
  • KOL – fine dining Mexican restaurant located in Marylebone, with chef patron Santiago Lastra. KOL has a Michelin star and is listed as Nr 23 in The World’s 50 Best Restaurants
  • Lisboeta – premium Portuguese-inspired restaurant by Nuno Mendes, in Fitzrovia


As well as two of the most anticipated launches of this autumn:

  • Fonda - a modern Mexican concept from KOL Chef Patron, Santiago Lastra, which has just opened in Heddon Street
  • AngloThai – debut restaurant from the brilliant chef John Chantarasak, focusing on Thai recipes using British ingredients, opening in Marylebone in the coming weeks


We are looking for a motivated Accounts Payable Manager to support this expansion.


Your responsibilities as Accounts Payable Manager at MJMK Restaurants will be:

  • Take ownership of accounts payable processes to drive efficiencies
  • Complete general AP duties - invoice processing, payment runs, banking, creditor ledger reconciliations etc.
  • Daily monitoring of AP mailboxes
  • Analysing the aged creditor report, reviewing the key supplier accounts weekly including rent, rates and direct debits
  • Ensure zero debit balances on the supplier ledger
  • System Management – manage the invoice approval system, keeping the approval matrices up to date
  • Ensure compliance with company policies
  • Managing the company's bank accounts (Natwest & Modulr), setting up payments and transfers, monitoring balances for month end
  • Manage setup of new supplier accounts & credit terms
  • Support cash-flow forecasting through accurate payment scheduling and identification of exceptional items
  • Expenses & Company Card spending - review and implement a new process for the team to follow
  • Support with posting accruals and prepayments
  • Oversee system upgrades and reconciliation queries on the ledgers
  • Maintain a sound understanding of VAT rules and their impact on invoice coding
  • Build strong relationships and actively engage with suppliers and operations; conduct site visits when required
  • Support with some balance sheet reconciliations
  • Provide cover for payroll during times of sickness or absence
  • Look for potential cost savings when reviewing invoices, and where time allows provide feedback to FC / FD on potential areas of overspend

Skills & Experience

  • Must have accounts payable experience (3+ years)
  • Experience with implementing new systems
  • Strong analytical and organisational skills, with proficiency in Excel
  • Knowledge of Xero preferred
  • Hospitality experience preferred
  • Proactive, collaborative, with excellent communication skills and a drive for process improvement
  • Comfortable to work in a small team in a fast-paced environment
  • AAT Qualified or proven knowledge of accounting and reporting standards, accruals & prepayments
  • Working knowledge of VAT regulations
