Group Financial Controller – MJMK Restaurants

Location: Based 5 days a week in our London office, near Oxford Circus

Position: Full-Time, office based

Salary: Up to £90k depending on experience

The Role

As Group Financial Controller you will oversee all financial operations for MJMK Restaurants, ensuring the business continues to thrive, and is ready for growth. Reporting directly to the Group Finance Director, you’ll play a key role in shaping the finance function to be best-in-class, providing valuable insight across our 7 London locations and support office, and being a pivotal part of the team as we open new restaurants. You will manage a team of 2, and recruit a further finance assistant this year, as we embark on our growth.

MJMK Restaurants have multiple openings planned - there is huge scope for both personal and professional growth as part of this team.

Key Responsibilities

End-to-end financial ownership for all MJMK restaurants, including owning and maintaining the ledgers to a best in class standard.
Ownership of all month end processes including AP, cash reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations and month end journal postings.
Manage, coach and develop a team of two; Accounts Payable Manager, and Management Accountant.
Deliver timely and accurate monthly management accounts including P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash flow and Capex spend analysis with supporting insight on variances to Budget.
Maintain weekly cash flow reports and forecasts
Manage the annual audit process
Propose and own the implementation and ongoing management of a new finance system, ensuring high quality and robust financial information is delivered.
Delivering financials in compliance with all relevant UK and International accounting standards.
Develop a thorough understanding of underlying business processes, providing proactive advice on improving them and enhancing profitability.
Maintain a strong financial control environment with effective finance processes and write and own all Finance SOPs
Ensure legal and tax compliance is maintained, including VAT, payroll tax and corporation tax.
Ownership of support office spend budget and actuals, identifying areas of potential savings.

What we’re looking for

Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) with at least 5 years of finance experience within hospitality
Proven track record as a Financial Controller, and experience of scaling finance functions in an expanding business
An exceptional attention to detail and first class presentation skills.
Strong understanding of hospitality and its financial challenges.
Passion for the restaurant industry and a commercial mindset.

About MJMK Restaurants

MJMK Restaurants own and operate a collection of award-winning restaurants. Founded in 2018 by lifelong friends Jake Kasumov and Marco Mendes, our journey began with Casa do Frango. In 2020, we partnered with chef patron Santiago Lastra to open KOL, a restaurant in Marylebone celebrating Mexican cuisine with British ingredients. KOL has since earned a Michelin Star and been named one of the World’s 50 Best Restaurants.

In 2024 saw two new ventures: Fonda, a contemporary Mexican concept in Mayfair - our second collaboration with Santiago Lastra - and AngloThai in Marylebone, a debut restaurant from husband-and-wife John and Desiree Chantarasak, blending Thai flavours with British ingredients. Within three months of opening, AngloThai earned a Michelin star.

In the 2025 National Restaurant Awards, AngloThai was named The Square Opening of the Year and ranked 7th in the Top 100 list, followed by KOL at number 50. Luso, a contemporary Portuguese restaurant in Fitzrovia, opened in September 2025.
